    BUSINESS PURPOSE

The purpose of this activity is to review the results of Phase 5 with Data Resource Management, Project Management, Data Communications Administration, and Software Engineering. The meeting is conducted by Data Base Administration.

    OVERVIEW

This is mainly a technical review in which the DBA presents the APDBM design. The main points to be considered are:

    1. Adherence to installation standards

    2. Conformance to the ALDBM design

    3. Enforcement of security and integrity constraints

    4. Feasibility in regard to existing/planned hardware

After this activity, Software Engineering may proceed with the programming phases of system development (ISEM Phases 4-II, 5 and 6).

Data Base Administration should be extremely well prepared. Visual aids should be used to explain and clarify findings.

Copies of the Phase 5 "APDBM Design Manual" should be distributed to pertinent managers well in advance of the review meeting. This allows the manager ample time to study the report and prepare for the meeting.

The intent of the review meeting is not necessarily to explain each section of the report, but to answer questions and summarize the conclusions. The report, thereby, is the focal point of the meeting.

During the review meeting, decisions or discussions may have indicated a project change or revision. Data Base Administration modifies the report as required and establishes another review meeting (if necessary) to consider the revised report.

A final and approved copy of the Phase 5 "APDBM Design Manual," with the initials or signatures of management, is sent to the Technical Library for filing in the project file.

    STEPS IN EXECUTION

    1. Data Base Administration conducts a formal review of the Phase 5 "APDBM Design Manual" with Data Resource Management, Project Management, Data Communications Administration, and Software Engineering.

    2. Management may request revisions to the design which are then implemented by Data Base Administration.

    3. Project Management forwards a formal copy of the "APDBM Design Manual" along with miscellaneous project documentation to the Technical Library for filing.
